LG Innotek has announced a partnership with the autonomous driving software firm Applied Intuition to deploy a fleet of sensor data collection vehicles in South Korea. The project will initially focus on the Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi-do regions.
The company aims to operate a total of 20 vehicles dedicated to data collection and software development by 2028. Beyond South Korea, these vehicles are scheduled for deployment in the United States, Europe, and Japan.
The fleet will be equipped with LG Innotek's proprietary camera, radar, and LiDAR systems. The collected data will be integrated into digital twin environments to refine sensor performance and validate system effectiveness for future sales.
LG Innotek intends to prioritize sensor fusion technologies and testing in extreme operating conditions. The company has also stated that it will implement measures to protect public privacy during the data collection process.
