Data from the decentralized perpetual futures exchange Hyperliquid reveals a significant concentration of leveraged long positions for Ethereum at the $2,538 price level. Approximately 21% of these positions were opened at prices higher than the current market value, placing those traders in a position of unrealized loss.
A notable long position held by a specific wallet is valued at approximately $151 million with 8x leverage, entered at $2,538.3. This trade carries a liquidation price of $2,460.8. Another substantial long position, worth $111 million with 10x leverage, was opened at $2,693.9, which is currently above the trading range.
The market also shows significant bearish activity, including a short position valued at roughly $278 million at an entry price of $2,304. Analytics from platforms like CoinLobster and Proliquid indicate that these large-scale positions are publicly visible due to the nature of decentralized exchanges.
Analysts note that these clusters of leveraged positions can create market pressure. If the price of Ethereum approaches liquidation levels, automatic forced closures could increase selling pressure. Conversely, a sharp rally could trigger short squeezes, forcing bearish traders to buy back assets.
