Leica has partnered with Formula 1 to release the Leica Q3 43 Formula 1 Edition camera. The device is currently available for purchase through Leica retail stores, the official online shop, and select professional retailers at a price of $9,950.
The design draws inspiration from F1 cockpits, featuring a carbon fiber finish on the wireless charging grip, thumb rest, and shutter button. The camera body is wrapped in black microfiber suede, mimicking the texture of an F1 steering wheel, while red accents on the controls reflect the color-coding used on racing steering wheels.
The camera includes an exclusive Formula 1 shooting mode, which adjusts contrast and color saturation to better capture track environments. Users can preview these effects in the viewfinder or apply them via the Leica FOTOS app. The carbon fiber components are manufactured and tested in Germany.
Internally, the special edition retains the core specifications of the standard Leica Q3 43. It features a fixed 43mm APO-Summicron f/2 lens and a full-frame sensor capable of shooting at 60, 36, or 18 megapixels. The model also supports hybrid autofocus and video recording, and remains compatible with existing Q3 and Q3 43 accessories.
