Ledger has appointed Oded Blatman as its combined Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Security Officer (CSO) on September 9, 2026. Blatman, who previously served as CIO and CISO at Fireblocks, will now manage a broad portfolio including cyber and infrastructure security, internal IT, enterprise risk management, and physical security.
The move comes as the crypto industry has lost $1.4 billion to hacks and exploits over the past year, according to Ledger CTO Charles Guillemet. The company notes that AI-generated phishing and autonomous attack systems are increasing the speed and sophistication of vulnerabilities exploitation.
Ledger has also introduced several technical security measures. On September 4, the company launched Cerberus, an AI-powered system for continuous vulnerability detection. Additionally, a Proof of Human security protocol is planned for the fourth quarter of 2026 to verify that transactions are initiated by humans rather than AI agents or deepfakes.
On September 7, Ledger and its competitor Trezor issued a joint call for the adoption of responsible vulnerability disclosure standards. This framework requires researchers to notify companies privately about critical flaws before making the information public.
