Ledger has appointed Oded Blatman as both Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Security Officer (CSO). This consolidated role merges product security and enterprise risk management under one executive to counter the rise of AI-driven crypto hacks.

Blatman joins the company from Fireblocks, where he served in a similar dual CIO/CSO capacity for five years. His previous experience includes cybersecurity roles in Israel's national defense, security leadership at Israel's largest bank, and managing the security aspect of Salesforce's $1.4 billion acquisition of ClickSoftware.

The new executive's responsibilities at Ledger will include network and infrastructure security, product security, internal IT, physical and workplace security, and enterprise risk management.

The decision comes as the digital asset industry faces $1.4 billion in hacks. Ledger, which has sold over 8 million hardware wallets and reports zero hacks on its signing devices, aims to address the increasing automation and lower costs of AI-powered attacks.

The company also maintains Ledger Donjon, an internal security research team that focuses on stress-testing products and conducting security research across the ecosystem.
