Larry Ellison, co-founder and chairman of Oracle, plans to sell up to $7.5 billion of his company stock. This single transaction would equal the total value of shares he has sold over the past 15 years combined, as his annual sales since 2010 have never exceeded $1 billion.
Ellison currently holds approximately 1.16 billion shares, representing 40–41% of Oracle. The planned sale accounts for roughly 6–7% of his total stake, based on a share price of around $150 as of mid-September 2026. Previously, he primarily used his shares as collateral for loans.
The executive has pledged between 277 million and 346 million shares as collateral. His financial commitments include personal guarantees for media deals exceeding $40 billion. His net worth reached nearly $400 billion in 2025 but has since experienced volatility, dropping by over $45 billion.
The sale occurs amid market uncertainty regarding AI infrastructure spending and enterprise cloud contract growth. Ellison has also reduced his public involvement in Oracle, notably stepping back from participating in the company's earnings calls.
