The LAPTOP meme coin launched on Wednesday, reaching its peak price of $199.51 just two minutes after launch. Shortly after, the price plummeted by 99%, falling to $2.27. The token operates on the Base network, developed by Coinbase.
A significant mismatch between the liquidity pool, which held approximately $48,000, and the token's full supply valuation of $144 billion, caused extreme price volatility. Arkham reported that the two largest wallets, both linked to the project, hold 30% of the supply each.
Trading results varied wildly. One trader spent 100 ETH (approximately $249,800) to acquire 9,124 LAPTOP at roughly $27 each, then sold 8,480 tokens for 472 ETH, earning $1.18 million. Another trader withdrew $250,000 from Binance to buy 919 LAPTOP at an average price of $218, which is now worth less than $2,000.
The project includes an airdrop plan to distribute 20% of the supply to community wallets, including users who lost money on the TRUMP token. The TRUMP token currently trades near $2.20, which is approximately 97% below its January 2025 peak.
