The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic and CertiK have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a long-term strategic partnership. The collaboration focuses on enhancing the security of the national digital som and improving oversight of digital assets within the country.
CertiK will provide technical and strategic support, focusing on cybersecurity, formal verification, and risk management. The parties plan to exchange expertise regarding blockchain security, anti-money laundering measures, and the monitoring of digital asset transactions.
The partnership explores the deployment of CertiK’s Supervision and Compliance solutions for regulatory oversight. The organizations will also work on developing security standards, licensing requirements, and frameworks for digital asset custody while conducting training programs.
Kyrgyzstan is currently expanding its blockchain strategy and updating its regulatory framework for virtual assets. The National Bank aims to complete initial pilot testing for the digital som by the end of 2026, with real-world testing scheduled to commence in 2027.
Authorities intend to launch a unified platform for licensing and supervising virtual assets. Pilot testing for this infrastructure is expected to begin on Jan. 1, 2027, as part of the broader effort to secure the country’s digital asset ecosystem.
