Kyrgyzstan has successfully launched its first national satellite into orbit. The mission took place on October 1, utilizing a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that lifted off from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

The satellite was deployed as part of a larger payload consisting of 130 spacecraft launched simultaneously. Operations and control of the new national asset will be managed from a dedicated center located in Bishkek.

The government intends to utilize the satellite data for monitoring agricultural lands, glaciers, water resources, forests, and pastures. The observations will also track ecosystem changes, illegal mining activities, and unauthorized waste disposal sites.

Furthermore, the satellite will support disaster risk management by identifying early signs of droughts, floods, landslides, and wildfires. Officials state that this data will facilitate evidence-based decision-making and improve the oversight of state programs.
