Kioxia has introduced the CM9-DLC enterprise solid-state drive, which features integrated support for direct liquid cooling (DLC) via cold plates. The drive is built in the EDSFF E3.S form factor and is designed to allow data centers to utilize a unified liquid cooling system for both computing and storage components within a single server rack.
The new SSD complies with PCIe 5.0, NVMe 2.0, and NVMe-MI 1.2c standards, while also supporting the OCP Data Center NVMe SSD v2.5 specification. The hardware includes a dual-port configuration to ensure reliability in enterprise environments.
The drive offers capacities reaching up to 32TB and is available in two endurance variants: a 1DWPD version for read-intensive tasks and a 3DWPD version for mixed-workload applications. The device delivers sequential read speeds of up to 14.8 GB/s and write speeds of up to 11 GB/s.
In terms of random performance, the CM9-DLC reaches up to 3400K IOPS for reads and 800K IOPS for writes. These technical specifications make the drive suitable for high-performance context caching applications in modern data center infrastructures.
