Kia has begun the delivery of 200 electric PV5 Cargo vehicles to Korea Post. These units are specifically adapted for postal services and will be distributed to post offices throughout South Korea starting this month.
The PV5 Cargo utilizes the E-GMP platform designed for Purpose-Built Vehicles. Key modifications for postal use include a low floor to assist drivers with frequent entry and exit, an aluminium cargo floor, and specialized door protection systems.
The deployment follows a two-month pilot program conducted between September and November of last year. During this period, Kia tested the vehicles across nine regional postal administrations to gather employee feedback and refine the final design.
Beyond vehicle supply, Kia is providing Korea Post with fleet management training, charging infrastructure, and maintenance support. The company is also exploring similar partnerships with other organizations, such as the Korea Electric Power Corporation.
The PV5 is the inaugural model in Kia's new PBV lineup, which will eventually include variants like Chassis Cab and wheelchair-accessible versions. Additionally, Kia recently introduced the larger PV7 model, which features 800-volt technology.
