Kaspersky collaborated with Interpol during the Serengeti III operation, which took place from June 29 to August 31, 2026. The initiative involved law enforcement agencies from 20 African nations and the United States, focusing on online fraud, ransomware, and business email compromise.

The operation identified approximately 66,000 victims with total financial losses estimated at $385 million. Kaspersky provided technical analysis of cyber threats, including data on botnet infrastructure, DDoS attack networks, and malicious websites targeting users in the region.

The joint efforts resulted in the arrest of 1,462 suspects and the recovery of $105 million in assets. Authorities neutralized nearly 11,000 pieces of malicious infrastructure used for cybercriminal activities throughout the operation.

Specific enforcement actions included the dismantling of two transnational fraud groups in Uganda, where 365 foreign nationals were arrested. In Angola, two illegal cryptocurrency mining centers were shut down, leading to nine arrests.

In Nigeria, authorities arrested a suspect linked to a large-scale phishing campaign and business email compromise attacks that harvested approximately 2.1 million email addresses. Another investigation in Nigeria successfully disrupted an investment fraud scheme.
