Kamino, a lending and liquidity protocol on the Solana blockchain, has appointed Michael Weisz as its new CEO, effective September 15, 2026. Weisz is a co-founder of the alternative investment platform Yieldstreet, where he oversaw the deployment of over $6 billion in capital and secured more than $250 million in funding.
The appointment aims to drive Kamino's expansion into the US market and accelerate its growth among institutional clients. Weisz brings over 20 years of experience in the fintech sector, having previously developed platforms that provided retail and institutional investors with access to asset classes such as real estate, marine finance, and art lending.
Kamino operates a peer-to-pool lending market featuring automated liquidity vaults and support for leveraged strategies. In the second quarter of 2026, the protocol reported revenue of $1.84 million, with total deposits reaching $2.29 billion by the end of the period.
The protocol's growth is supported by several segments, including the Ethena market, which attracted over $500 million in deposits, and the PRIME segment, backed by home equity loans, which exceeded $600 million in market size. Recent product additions include isolated markets, fixed-rate offerings, and institutional yield vaults.
In August 2026, the company introduced a Commodity Yield vault with an initial capacity of $25 million in USDC. This product is specifically designed to provide financing for real-world commodity trading activities as part of the protocol's ongoing integration of real-world assets.
