Jeonbuk Bank, a subsidiary of JB Financial Group, has introduced corporate loans secured by Bitcoin. The product, which launched on October 12, 2026, allows South Korean businesses to borrow won using their Bitcoin holdings as collateral.
The bank does not hold the digital assets directly. Instead, it partners with licensed virtual asset service providers that comply with local regulations, including ISMS certification and the Virtual Asset User Protection Act.
The bank manages the valuation process by using weighted average prices from multiple global exchanges. In the event of a default, the bank recovers funds through court-ordered auctions in accordance with the revised Civil Execution Rules that took effect on October 1, 2026.
Currently, the service is restricted to corporate clients seeking operating funds. The bank selected Bitcoin as the sole collateral due to its liquidity and trading volume, though it may expand the offering to other assets and client types in the future.
