Jaguar has officially entered the electric vehicle market with the introduction of its four-door GT, the Type 01. This model marks the beginning of a broader brand transformation aimed at shifting the company's focus away from high-volume sales toward a strategy centered on lower-volume, higher-profit vehicles.

Managing Director Rawdon Glover stated that the brand intends to position itself in a market segment above competitors like Audi and BMW. The upcoming second model in this new lineup is expected to be a crossover, which will incorporate the bold design language established by the Type 01.

The company plans to debut the second vehicle only after the Type 01 begins deliveries, with a potential release date in 2028. The Type 01 itself is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2027. Looking further ahead, Jaguar is also considering the development of a third model, which may take the form of a large sedan.

All future Jaguar vehicles will be exclusively electric. This strategic pivot follows previous attempts to compete with mainstream luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz and Lexus, which the company noted failed to establish a stable business model or a distinct market identity.
