Jaguar Land Rover has initiated a recall for 873 Range Rover Sport SUVs in the United States due to potential cracks in the rear subframe. The issue stems from a forging defect identified at two suppliers, Linamar Casting and Gestamp Assembly, which can occur during the manufacturing process.
The affected vehicles include models from 2024 to 2026, produced at the Solihull plant between October 3, 2023, and May 22, 2026. The defect was discovered on June 4, 2026, during a supplier quality control check, as final machining steps can mask these structural flaws from visual inspections.
A compromised rear subframe poses a risk to structural integrity, as it supports critical suspension and chassis loads. While no injuries, accidents, or fires have been reported, the manufacturer advises owners to avoid heavy towing or severe off-road driving until their vehicles are inspected.
Dealers will inspect the rear subframes of all affected SUVs at no cost to owners. Depending on the findings, the component will either be repaired or replaced. Owners are encouraged to verify their vehicle identification number through the NHTSA database to confirm if their specific unit is included.
