Strike CEO Jack Mallers stated that Bitcoin and artificial intelligence could help individuals regain time for creative pursuits. According to Mallers, Bitcoin serves as a form of hard money that rewards labor, contrasting with traditional financial systems that he describes as destructive to personal time and energy.
The remarks follow a significant performance for Bitcoin, which rose approximately 25% in August 2026. This marked the asset's strongest month of the year and its first positive August since 2021, with the price closing near $78 000.
Market activity was influenced by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who expanded long-dated bond buybacks. This move reduced yields and triggered billions in short liquidations, while U.S. national debt reached the $40 trillion threshold.
Mallers characterized the current level of U.S. debt as unsustainable, regardless of potential interest rate adjustments by the Federal Reserve. Meanwhile, data from August showed the consumer price index, excluding food and energy, increased by 0.3%.
