The police force in Islamabad has integrated 50 BYD Atto 2 electric SUVs into its fleet. The vehicles are currently in operation and support the newly formed Capital Patrol unit, which consists of 200 officers. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif officially handed over the vehicles during a ceremony held on 8 September.

Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi stated that the transition to electric vehicles is expected to save the department approximately PKR 34 million per month in fuel expenses. According to these estimates, the cost of each vehicle will be fully recovered within ten and a half months of service.

The BYD Atto 2 features a 130 kW motor and a 45.12 kWh LFP battery, providing a range of up to 380 km under the NEDC cycle. The battery supports fast charging, reaching 80 percent capacity from 30 percent in 30 minutes. Each unit is priced at PKR 7.29 million.

Mega Motor Company, a partner of BYD and an affiliate of Hub Power Company, is currently constructing a local assembly plant in Gharo, Sindh. The facility is expected to begin production by the end of 2026, with the Atto 2 model being a primary candidate for local manufacturing.
