Users are reporting color fading issues with the new iPhone 18 Pro series, specifically in the Burgundy Red and black models. The discoloration is most noticeable around the camera module, where the finish appears to lighten after use.
This issue mirrors complaints from the previous iPhone 17 Pro generation, where the Starry Orange color faded into pink. In both cases, affected users claim they used protective cases and avoided harsh chemical cleaners, suggesting the problem is not related to external wear.
Industry experts attribute the fading to the anodization process used on the aerospace-grade aluminum frames. If the sealing stage of the anodization is incomplete, the microscopic pores in the oxide layer remain open, allowing sweat and skin oils to degrade the dye.
Apple has not yet issued an official response regarding the iPhone 18 Pro defects. While the current reports involve a limited number of users, the recurrence of the issue suggests potential inconsistencies in the manufacturing batches.
