The iPhone 18 Pro features a new 48-megapixel main camera module equipped with a mechanical iris diaphragm. This system allows users to switch between four physical aperture settings: f/1.48, f/1.8, f/2.8, and f/4.0, enhancing light control and physical depth-of-field capabilities.

To manage heat from the 2nm A20 Pro chip, Apple introduced a second-generation vapor chamber cooling system. The surface area of this thermal management solution is three times larger than that of the previous generation, covering the mainboard and power management components.

This cooling upgrade supports sustained performance improvements of up to 40% during intensive tasks like gaming, 4K ProRes recording, and local AI processing. The internal layout also features improved component stacking efficiency within the aluminum alloy frame.

Connectivity is handled by Apple's proprietary C2 5G modem in most regions, while specific models, such as the US version of the Pro Max, retain Qualcomm baseband solutions. The removal of the physical SIM card slot has allowed for an increase in battery capacity.
