IONNA, a joint venture between BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, and Toyota, has expanded its charging network to over 180 active sites in the United States. The company reported that its network size has more than doubled since the start of 2026.
The charging network currently integrates with 19 partner applications, such as ChargeHub, Presto, and EV Connect, opting not to develop a proprietary app. IONNA also supports the Plug & Charge feature for Volvo vehicles, with plans to extend this capability to Toyota and Lexus models.
In the 2026 JD Power U.S. Electric Vehicle Experience Public Charging Study, IONNA secured the highest ranking among DC fast charging providers. CEO Seth Cutler stated that the company aims to balance network scale with service quality.
To improve future operations, the company established a Driver Advisory Council. The council includes EV journalists Kyle Conner and Tom Moloughney, who will advise on network performance and product development based on user feedback.
