Intel has officially unveiled the D270, a new AI accelerator from the Crescent Island series. Unlike high-end solutions from Nvidia or AMD, this model is specifically designed for AI inference tasks rather than model training.
The device is powered by a GPU featuring 32 cores based on the Xe3P architecture. For comparison, this core count aligns with the Arc Pro B70 and the anticipated Arc B770, while the Panther Lake iGPU, the Arc B390, contains 12 Xe3 cores.
The memory configuration utilizes LPDDR5X instead of standard GDDR. Intel will offer its own cards with 160 GB of memory, though partner manufacturers will have the flexibility to provide configurations reaching up to 480 GB.
The D270 delivers a performance of 1.3 PFLOPS in FP8 mode. The accelerator supports the PCIe 5.0 interface and operates with a TDP of 350 W, positioning it as a distinct alternative to current industry-standard AI hardware.
