Intel is preparing to return to a four-digit numbering scheme for its upcoming Nova Lake-S processor lineup. The new series will be branded as Core Ultra 4xxx, marking a shift in the company's naming convention. The initial wave of processors will feature single-chiplet designs with a maximum of 28 cores.

The lineup includes several models such as the Core Ultra 5 4650K/KF, Core Ultra 7 4850K, and Core Ultra 9 4950K. Additionally, Intel plans to introduce BFC-branded chips, which will include the Core Ultra 7 4870K BFC, Core Ultra 9 4900 BFC, and the flagship Core Ultra 9 4970K BFC.

The BFC models are distinguished by a large bLLC cache, reaching up to 144 MB. While these single-chiplet versions are expected first, Intel plans to release two-chiplet processors featuring up to 52 cores by the middle of next year. The naming strategy for these future high-end models remains currently unconfirmed.
