Intel has reached an 80% yield rate for its Panther Lake SoC, which utilizes the company's 18A manufacturing node. This milestone reflects significant progress in addressing previous parametric yield issues and manufacturing challenges at the foundry division.
The compute die for the Panther Lake processor measures 114.304 square millimeters, with dimensions of 8.004 by 14.288 millimeters. Current defect rates for the 18A node are estimated to be between D0=0.1 and D0=0.2, with performance likely trending toward the lower end of this range.
Looking ahead, Intel intends to implement a dual-sourcing strategy for its upcoming Nova Lake processors. The company plans to manufacture 80% to 90% of the compute tiles for this series internally, while the remaining portion will be outsourced to TSMC.
