Intel is reportedly preparing the Raptor Lake Next processor series to succeed the Core i5-14600K. The new model is expected to feature 8 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores, totaling 16 cores and 24 threads, while maintaining a 125W base power rating.

The information comes from leaker Jaykihn, who suggests this configuration will bring 8 performance cores to the Core 5 segment for the first time. The processor will continue to use the Raptor Lake architecture and is designed to extend the lifecycle of the LGA 1700 platform.

The lineup is expected to include 125W and 65W desktop variants, as well as mobile HX models, with a potential launch in early 2027. These chips are likely to support DDR4 memory, allowing users of 600 and 700 series motherboards to upgrade without replacing their RAM.

Performance-wise, the 8P+8E configuration matches the Core i7-13700K. While multi-threaded performance may see gains, improvements in gaming are expected to be more limited. The chips are reportedly categorized under the Core 200 series rather than Core Ultra.

Intel has not officially confirmed these specifications, pricing, or release dates. All details regarding the Raptor Lake Next series remain based on unofficial reports and are subject to change before the final product launch.
