Intel is developing a successor to the Core i5-14600K processor, according to information shared by insider Jaykihn. Unlike previous refreshes that offered only minor clock speed increases, the upcoming model will feature a new core configuration.
The new processor will utilize an 8P+8E core layout, totaling 16 cores. This configuration is currently absent from the desktop market, although it exists in the mobile segment within the Core i7-14650HX chip. For comparison, the current Core i5-14600K features a 6P+8E setup.
This release is part of the Raptor Lake Next initiative, which aims to update the 14th generation Core lineup with a limited number of new models. While the official name remains unconfirmed, industry observers suggest it could be marketed as the Core i5-14650K.
