Intel is preparing for the release of its Core Ultra 400-series processors, known as Nova Lake. The platform has recently completed compliance testing for both USB4 and PCIe 5.0 standards, confirming that the hardware meets the required specifications for these interfaces.
The USB Implementers Forum has certified two Nova Lake-H device IDs, D331 and D333, for USB4 compliance. Additionally, the Nova Lake PCH-S chipset for desktop motherboards, identified as 6E6E, has been verified for USB 3.2 Gen 2 support.
Intel utilized a strategy called Qualification by Similarity to streamline the certification process. By testing specific laptop CPUs and desktop chipsets, the company can extend certification to other products within the same family without testing every individual flagship model.
Regarding PCIe compliance, the PCI-SIG has listed several device IDs for the 900-series chipset, ranging from 6E38 to 6E47, which were added in April. In August, Intel added entries for CPU-specific PCIe 5.0 x16 root complexes, including IDs D461, D465, and D467-D46A.
The completion of these verification processes marks the final stage of platform development before a product launch. These steps ensure that the upcoming Nova Lake architecture is fully compatible with industry standards for high-speed data transfer and peripheral connectivity.
