The Cozystack platform is an open-source solution designed to provide managed services on bare metal infrastructure. It utilizes a four-layer architecture consisting of the operating system, infrastructure, management, and user services, with Flux CD handling configuration delivery.
To ensure system reproducibility and manageability, the platform uses Talos Linux. The configuration process is streamlined by the Talm tool, which collects hardware information to prepare consistent node configurations, reducing the need for manual server maintenance.
For storage, Cozystack integrates LINSTOR and DRBD, managed via the Piraeus Operator. This setup allows for block-level data management and replication, enabling users to access data using standard system tools even if the management layer fails.
The platform manages compute and storage placement by using the LINSTOR scheduler extender to align virtual machines with data replicas. Additionally, the auto-diskful feature allows the system to synchronize data to nodes where workloads are actively running.
