RedTeam operates as subnet 61 (SN61) on the Bittensor network and is managed by the cybersecurity firm Innerworks. The project uses a competitive model where miners submit Docker-based code solutions to security challenges, ranging from automation bypass testing to mimicking human behavior. Successful participants are rewarded with TAO tokens based on their performance relative to other competitors.
Over 11 months of adversarial testing, the network improved its bot detection efficacy from 74.3% to 99.5%. During this period, the average performance of competing systems dropped to 14.6%. Since its launch in late 2024, RedTeam has implemented 14 different challenges, 9 of which have been deprecated as the network's capabilities evolved.
The technology is already integrated with the 1inch DeFi protocol and a messaging app with over 100 million daily active users. Additionally, five enterprise applications are currently undergoing testing. These five companies have a combined valuation of over $22 billion and each processes more than 1 billion transactions per week.
Innerworks is developing an "Immune System" to enable real-time attack and defense operations. This phase includes the "Bot Virus" challenge, where miners create agents capable of both attacking and defending simultaneously. To prevent plagiarism, the system will use encrypted submissions and updated incentive structures to encourage ongoing innovation.
From a financial perspective, Innerworks intends to start alpha token buybacks. These will be funded by revenue from the company's SaaS operations, as well as locked profits and upcoming emissions.
