The recall affects approximately 1,643 units sold in the United States and about 120 units in Canada. The INMO AIR3 smart glasses were sold through Amazon, the company's official website, and Kickstarter between December 2025 and August 2026. The retail price for the device ranges from $900 to $1,300.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued the warning after receiving 10 reports of the device overheating. Users reported sensations of burning on their faces and near the left ear. The issue is localized to the left temple of the glasses, which can become excessively hot during prolonged use.

To address the safety concerns, the CPSC has instructed owners to stop using the glasses immediately. INMO is offering a free software update to version V3.16 to resolve the overheating problem. The company has not provided specific technical details on how the software patch mitigates the hardware heating issue.

The INMO AIR3 is marketed as an all-in-one AI and AR terminal, supporting features such as AI translation, office assistance, and media streaming. While the CPSC warning mentions the potential for severe burns or death, no actual cases of serious injury or fatalities have been documented in the reports filed so far.
