The Injective community has approved the Meridian mainnet upgrade, known as IIP-701, with 99% of stakers voting in favor. The update, version 1.20.4, is scheduled for deployment on September 24, 2026, at block height 184,394,000.
The upgrade introduces regulated token standards to the Injective EVM, enabling the compliant issuance of real-world assets. It also implements MultiVM markets for cross-environment asset settlement and initiates testing for private request-for-quote transaction flows.
These features are designed to integrate regulatory compliance directly into the protocol level. The update also includes technical enhancements to market execution, risk management, and oracle reliability.
This release follows the registration of Injective Institutional Services as an SEC transfer agent on August 19, 2026. The development sequence began with the launch of the Injective Mint tool in July 2026.
