Infineon Technologies has launched the OPTIREG TLE9744QK, a power management IC designed for high-voltage traction inverters in electric and hybrid vehicles. The chip integrates supply rails, a resolver excitation circuit, and a safety engine, which the company claims reduces board space requirements by up to 70% compared to discrete component solutions.
The device features two buck/boost pre-regulators, linear post-regulators, two trackers, and multiple I/O ports. It operates within a voltage range of 4 V to 36 V and temperatures from -40° C to 150° C. The chip is compatible with TRAVEO T1G and AURIX TC2x, TC3x, and TC4x microcontrollers and includes functional and window watchdogs.
The Integrated Safety Logic block provides an independent safety path that monitors phase currents, DC-link voltage, and the status of gate drivers and microcontrollers. This architecture meets ASIL-D standards under ISO 26262. A redundant supply input ensures the safety path remains operational even if the main low-voltage supply fails.
Infineon has confirmed that the component will remain available until at least 2038. Samples, reference designs, and evaluation tools are currently available for order, and the product is listed in stock with unit pricing provided on the company's website.
