Identity Digital Inc. has spun off its AI identity initiative into a new independent company called Known Systems AI Inc. The startup originated from the Innovation Labs project, which previously introduced an open neural framework for AI agent identification known as DNSid.
DNSid functions as a digital birth certificate for AI agents, utilizing the Domain Name System, public key infrastructure, and an immutable blockchain ledger. This framework allows agents to maintain a persistent identity tied to their creator, ensuring accountability when interacting across different platforms and systems.
Known Systems AI aims to establish DNSid as an open industry standard. The company has already submitted an Internet-Draft to the Internet Engineering Task Force and is collaborating with the Linux Foundation through the Agentic AI Foundation and LF Decentralized Trust.
Identity Digital CEO Akram Atallah stated that the spinout was necessary to remove limitations on the project's growth. Identity Digital and its primary owner, Ethos Capital, remain key investors in the new entity, with Ethos partner Allie Kline serving as interim CEO.
