Identity Digital Inc. has spun out its AI agent identity initiative, formerly known as Innovation Labs, into a new independent company called Known Systems AI Inc. The startup focuses on developing DNSid, an open neural framework designed to provide AI agents with persistent, verifiable identities.
DNSid utilizes the Domain Name System, public key infrastructure, and an immutable blockchain ledger to ensure agent accountability across different organizational boundaries. This framework allows AI agents to interact with third-party platforms without needing to establish individual trust relationships for each connection.
Known Systems AI aims to establish DNSid as an open standard for agent identification. The company has already submitted an Internet-Draft to the Internet Engineering Task Force and is collaborating with the Linux Foundation through the Agentic AI Foundation and LF Decentralized Trust.
Identity Digital remains a major investor in the new entity and will hold a seat on its board of directors. Ethos Capital, the primary owner of Identity Digital, is also supporting the venture. Allie Kline, a partner at Ethos Capital, has been appointed as the interim CEO of Known Systems AI.
