The Ideco NGFW Novum v23 release introduces a set of features designed to manage complex network infrastructures, including data centers and distributed networks. The update focuses on providing visibility into AI services, advanced dynamic routing, quality of service (QoS) controls, and strict authentication protocols.
A key addition is the Shadow AI detection layer. This tool allows security teams to identify which AI services are being accessed within the corporate network, including chatbots, API-connected models, and local inference services. The system aims to bridge the gap between official AI adoption and actual employee usage patterns.
The developer notes that simply blocking all AI-related websites is often ineffective, as it fails to distinguish between corporate-approved tools and personal accounts, while also encouraging users to seek workarounds. The new functionality provides an inventory layer to classify risks and define acceptable usage scenarios.
The update also addresses the prevalence of proxy services and AI model aggregators in the Russian market. By automating the identification of these services, the system reduces the manual burden on security teams who would otherwise need to maintain lists of AI-related traffic sources to ensure network security.
