Hyundai is reportedly planning to expand its Ioniq electric vehicle sub-brand with two new SUV models, the Ioniq 4 and Ioniq 7, over the next 12 to 18 months. These additions aim to fill gaps in the company's current EV portfolio and compete in the compact and mid-size SUV segments.

The Ioniq 4 is expected to be a compact SUV positioned between the Ioniq 3 and Ioniq 5, with production potentially starting in 2027. Reports suggest it may offer two battery options of 42 kWh or 61 kWh. The company previously announced a new B-segment electric SUV during a strategy event in August.

The Ioniq 7 is intended to be a mid-size family SUV positioned between the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 9. It is expected to feature an 800-volt architecture and will likely be available in both single-motor and dual-motor configurations. Specific details regarding battery capacity and range remain undisclosed.

The Ioniq brand was established in 2020 as a dedicated line for battery-electric vehicles. While the Ioniq 9 is currently the only large electric SUV in the lineup, the company is now repurposing the Ioniq 7 name for this upcoming mid-size model, following the renaming of the original Ioniq 7 project.
