A prototype of the next-generation Hyundai Elantra N has been spotted on a trailer in South Korea. The vehicle features heavy camouflage, but notable design changes include wider fenders and a thinner, wider front lip. The prototype is equipped with 275/30ZR19 tires, which are significantly wider than the 245-spec tires used on the current model.

The new Elantra N may transition from the current 2.0-liter turbocharged engine to a 2.5-liter unit. For comparison, the 2.5-liter engine currently produces 290 horsepower in the Sonata N Line and up to 300 horsepower in the Genesis G70. The current Elantra N model delivers 276 horsepower and 392 Newton-meters of torque.

Hyundai is also testing a new high-performance powertrain that aims to improve power delivery and racing capability. The company has confirmed its commitment to internal combustion engines for this project. The debut of the new Elantra N is expected around 2027, potentially arriving as a 2028 model in the United States.
