Hyundai Motor Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology to support the national Vision 2040 strategy. The initial one-year agreement focuses on smart city development and the adoption of eco-friendly mobility solutions, including electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
As part of the initiative, the transport operator Mwasalat will launch a pilot program for the ELEC CITY Fuel Cell bus in Muscat. The 24-seat hydrogen vehicle will operate on public transit routes from the third quarter of 2026 through the third quarter of 2027 to test its operational efficiency and reliability against diesel alternatives.
The group is also collaborating with Oman Oil Marketing Company and the EV charging brand EVO to install a 240kW DC ultra-fast charger in Halban. Hyundai Kefico has additionally formalized a cooperation agreement with EVO to test charging infrastructure. These projects aim to evaluate performance and commercial feasibility for potential future expansion.
