Hyundai sold 31,112 units of the IONIQ 5 in the US during the first nine months of 2026. This figure represents a 24% decline compared to the same period in 2025, when a $7,500 federal tax credit was available to buyers.

To address the market shift following the expiration of the tax credit, Hyundai reduced the price of the 2026 IONIQ 5 by up to $9,800 on certain trim levels. In the third quarter of 2026, the company moved 2,928 vehicles, down 65% from the 8,400 units sold in Q3 2025.

The IONIQ 5 continues to outperform other electric SUVs in the US market. For instance, Chevrolet sold 18,154 units of its Equinox EV through September 2026, while Toyota sold nearly 25,000 units of its bZ model during the same timeframe.

The 2027 Hyundai IONIQ 5 SE Standard Range starts at $35,250 with a range of 245 miles. The extended-range SE RWD version costs an additional $2,500 and provides up to 318 miles of range.

The Toyota bZ XLE FWD starts at $34,980 with a 236-mile range, while the XLE FWD Plus trim is priced at $37,980 with a 314-mile range. Both the IONIQ 5 and the Toyota bZ are equipped with a NACS charging port.
