Hyundai Motor and KOICA are launching the 'Hyundai-KOICA NextGen' project in Ghana to train automotive technicians. The initiative is part of Hyundai's global 'Hyundai Continue' CSV program and is implemented in collaboration with Plan International Korea and Plan International Ghana.
The project is funded with ₩5 billion over five years on a 5:5 matching basis under KOICA's Inclusive Business Solution program. It aims to address critical gaps in Ghana's automotive education, where 80% of institutions lack updated curricula and 70% of equipment is over 10 years old.
The program will establish two maintenance technology education centers. These centers will provide updated training for teachers, who will then pass that knowledge to students at nearby technical schools. The focus will include the latest developments in hybrid and electric vehicle maintenance.
A total of 405 teachers and students will be supported through enhanced technical education, internships, and pathways to employment and entrepreneurship. The project seeks to create a sustainable pipeline of skilled technicians to meet the demands of a modernizing automotive sector.
