At Korea Blockchain Week 2026 in Seoul, Hyperliquid co-founder Jeff Yan presented a strategy for expanding access to private markets through on-chain infrastructure. He argued that traditional financial assets have been restricted to institutional investors and that blockchain technology can provide broader access to these classes.

The platform currently operates with a team of approximately 11 people. Hyperliquid was developed without venture capital funding, relying instead on internal resources. In late 2024, the project conducted an airdrop of its HYPE token, distributing assets directly to users rather than selling them to venture capital firms.

The technical foundation for this vision is the HIP-3 initiative. It enables independent teams to launch their own perpetual markets on the Hyperliquid platform without requiring permission from the core developers. This initiative has already generated trading volume in non-crypto assets.

The Korea Blockchain Week 2026 conference took place from September 29 to October 1 at the Walkerhill Hotels & Resorts. Hyperliquid hosted a dedicated seminar for Korean financial institutions on September 28. Featured speakers at the main event included Arthur Hayes and Tom Lee.
