Ran Neuner, founder of Crypto Banter, identifies regulatory uncertainty as the primary threat to the Hyperliquid platform. He notes that decentralized exchanges may face increasing government scrutiny, as the specific approach regulators will take toward such protocols remains unclear.

Despite these risks, Neuner highlights Hyperliquid's strong competitive position driven by network effects. He argues that the platform's deep liquidity attracts users, making it difficult for competitors to replicate its success simply by copying the underlying technology.

Hyperliquid operates as a layer-1 blockchain and currently leads the sector with a trading volume of approximately $223 billion over the past 30 days, according to DeFiLlama. The platform is best known for its decentralized perpetual futures exchange.

US officials have indicated potential pathways for compliant access. In August, President Donald Trump stated that CFTC Chair Michael Selig is working to bring the platform into the US legally. However, no formal proposals or timelines regarding this integration have been released.

As of Friday, the HYPE token was trading at approximately $82, marking a year-to-date increase of over 220 percent. The asset currently holds a market capitalization of roughly $18.2 billion, with a fully diluted valuation of about $78.4 billion.
