Hyperliquid co-founder and CEO Jeff Yan stated that traditional Wall Street wealth-creation models are unsustainable for retail investors. He noted that significant asset growth often occurs before public listings, leaving individual participants unable to access early-stage gains.
Speaking at Token2049 Singapore, Yan emphasized that Hyperliquid aims to democratize access to financial opportunities through its decentralized exchange. The platform utilizes perpetual futures contracts without expiry dates to minimize trader decision-making and prevent liquidity fragmentation.
According to DefiLlama, Hyperliquid currently ranks as the third-largest revenue-generating protocol, having recorded $72 million in revenue over the past 30 days. Yan described this financial performance as a byproduct of the platform's mission to expand global access to blockchain-based markets.
The growth of the protocol has attracted interest from traditional finance entities. In July, asset manager Pantera noted that perpetual futures could become a dominant global instrument, while Jeffrey Sprecher, CEO of the NYSE parent company ICE, has advocated for regulatory frameworks to support 24/7 onchain trading.
