Hyperliquid and Payward are partnering to launch regulated perpetual futures markets for US traders. The initiative utilizes the HIP-3* infrastructure, an extension of the existing HIP-3 framework that incorporates permissioned allowlists for regulatory compliance.
The collaboration operates through Bitnomial, a Payward subsidiary that secured CFTC exchange and clearinghouse licenses in May 2026. Bitnomial will provide the regulatory framework for these markets on the Hyperliquid blockchain.
The original HIP-3 protocol, which debuted on October 13, 2025, allows users to launch perpetual futures markets by staking 500,000 HYPE tokens. As of September 16, 2026, there are 142 active markets on the platform.
These existing markets currently report a 24-hour trading volume of $2,29 billion and an open interest of $3,98 billion. The new HIP-3* extension aims to support asset classes requiring mandatory compliance frameworks.
Discussions between the companies began around August 31, 2026. A formal proposal regarding the project is currently pending approval from the CFTC, though both parties have publicly announced the collaboration.
