Hygon Information Technology has launched the Hygon 1000 series, a new line of four-core x86 processors designed for industrial automation and robotics. These chips support eight threads and are compatible with both DDR4 and DDR5 memory standards.
The new processors are the first from Hygon to feature integrated graphics. They are designed for edge computing, enabling data processing and graphics tasks directly on devices such as factory controllers, power plants, and medical equipment.
The Hygon 1000 series features the company's most compact design to date, with a footprint approximately half the size of the 3450M laptop processor released last year. The chips are priced between $40 and $80.
Hygon, a developer of x86-compatible chips, previously collaborated with AMD starting in 2016. Following the 2019 inclusion of related companies in a US trade blacklist, Hygon transitioned to developing its x86-compatible architecture independently.
