Brant Standridge, who joined Huntington four years ago and previously served as president of consumer and business banking, has been appointed as the bank's president. In his new role, he will oversee all revenue-generating businesses and be responsible for the continued revenue growth and performance of the lender.

CEO Steve Steinour will remain chairman and CEO for several more years, focusing on company strategy and execution. Standridge was tasked with managing two recent acquisitions while the board and Steinour were searching for potential CEO candidates.

Huntington may promote a new head for its consumer and regional banking unit under Standridge next year. This move is part of a broader trend among regional banks to establish succession plans for executives who led them during the 2008 financial crisis.

Other regional banks are following similar paths. Mike Lyons has moved to Truist to succeed Bill Rogers, Gunjan Kedia will become CEO of U.S. Bank in 2025, and Citizens Banks CEO Bruce Van Saun has identified Brendan Coughlin as his likely successor.
