Huawei executive Richard Yu announced that the Luxeed R7 is designed to support Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities. The vehicle has already secured a permit for public road testing and is currently undergoing trials on complex urban expressways.

The Luxeed R7 features the CAS 5.0 omnidimensional collision prevention system. This technology is designed to provide safety coverage across various speeds, directions, and environmental conditions, including complex traffic scenarios like merging and lane changing.

During public road tests, the vehicle's autonomous system is activated via a dedicated button marked with an A. When engaged, the system emits a blue light, and the vehicle's interface provides visual and audio confirmation that Level 3 driving is active.
