Huawei officially ended technical support for HarmonyOS 1.0 on September 14, 2026. The operating system, which debuted at the Huawei Developer Conference on August 9, 2019, was primarily designed to test distributed interconnection technologies, such as screen casting between televisions and mobile devices.
The software was never deployed on smartphones, with the Huawei smart screen serving as the only mass-produced device to feature it. While the company will no longer provide regular system updates or version iterations, it may still release emergency patches if critical security vulnerabilities are discovered.
The company also updated its end-of-support schedule for other platforms. EMUI versions 1.X through 9.0.X reached their end-of-life in March 2024. Furthermore, support for EMUI 9.1.X, 10.X, 11.0.0, and several early HarmonyOS versions is set to conclude on May 28, 2025.
Users with devices running HarmonyOS 1.0 can continue to watch videos and install existing applications despite the lack of major system updates. Since its 2019 launch, the platform has completed a seven-year lifecycle, with subsequent development shifting to versions 2.0 through 7.0 for broader hardware support.
