Huawei has shipped approximately 100,000 units of its triple-fold Mate XT 2 smartphone since mid-September. The company aims to reach a total production volume of 1 million units for this device. While currently available in the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, Huawei plans to expand sales to the European market.
Richard Yu, head of Huawei's consumer business, stated that the company is utilizing LogicFolding technology to develop processors despite lacking access to EUV lithography. He noted that partner manufacturing capacities are sufficient to meet current demand for these chips.
The company faces significant pressure from rising memory costs and supply shortages, which are impacting profitability. Huawei expects to implement moderate price increases for its products to maintain financial stability. Richard Yu emphasized that the company must adjust pricing to avoid operating at a loss.
Huawei welcomed the upcoming launch of the Apple iPhone Duo, scheduled for release on October 23. The company believes competition will drive broader consumer interest in foldable devices. Following the announcement of the iPhone Duo, sales of the Huawei Pura X Max rose by 76 percent, with 1.4 million units sold since its April launch.
