Huawei has released the HarmonyOS 7.0.0.109 SP8 update for the Mate XT 2 tri-fold smartphone. The update introduces several new features, including 3D spatial wallpapers that combine photo elements with depth-sensing clocks to create a layered visual effect on the lock screen.
A significant enhancement has been made to the communication sharing feature. Users can now establish a mutual network with other devices running HarmonyOS 7, such as smartphones, tablets, and computers. This connection is activated via a tap-to-connect method or by logging into the same Huawei account, improving network stability in areas with weak signals.
The update also adds the ability to generate 3D dynamic photos from both static and dynamic images, offering various spatial camera movement effects. Additionally, the dark mode can now automatically toggle based on sunrise and sunset times, and the always-on display now supports navigation tracking for specific map applications.
Huawei has optimized the inference speed of its multimodal foundation model, which improves the performance of intelligent features like weather summaries, AI-assisted call answering, and text refinement. Due to the scale of these model updates, the system package size is notably large.
The rollout of the HarmonyOS update is being conducted in batches. Users who have not yet received an automatic notification can manually check for the new version by navigating to the software update section in the device settings.
